What we do

Aircon Johannesburg helps people who need a unit installed, serviced, repaired or refilled find an independent aircon contractor who covers their suburb and does that kind of work. That might be a split unit for a bedroom in Bryanston, a fault traced on a unit in Sandton, a gas refill on a hillside home in Northcliff, a service on a shop unit in Roodepoort, or a ducted system for an office in Midrand.

You send us your suburb, a short description of the job and how to reach you. We pass the enquiry to a suitable contractor. The contractor contacts you, looks at the room or the unit where needed and quotes you directly. If you accept, your agreement for the work is with the contractor.

What we are not

We are not an air conditioning contractor, an installer or a refrigeration business. We do not install, service or repair air conditioners, and we do not carry out electrical work or handle refrigerant. We do not hold a contractor's registration or any accreditation, and we do not offer a warranty on anyone's work.

We do not set contractors' prices and we do not warrant their work. The contractor is responsible for the quality of the work, the unit they supply, the warranty they offer and compliance with the rules that apply, including the electrical and refrigerant work. We say this plainly on every page, because you should know who you are dealing with before you share your details or accept a quote.

What we tell you about aircon

We describe what the work involves and what moves the price, not what a unit will cost from a distance. An air conditioner is only as good as the decisions made before it is switched on, so sizing the room, placing the indoor head, giving the condenser airflow and planning the pipe run are the parts of a quote that matter most.

We also keep a fault apart from a service. A unit that is not cooling needs a fault found before any part is replaced, and no one can diagnose that over the phone. A unit that is simply dusty needs a clean, and a clean offered as a cure for a fault only delays the real work.

What we publish, and what we do not

Our pages explain aircon choices and Johannesburg conditions in plain language, so that you can describe the job well and compare quotes. We write about the factors that move a quote rather than prices, because contractors set their own prices and we will not publish figures that a contractor has not confirmed in writing.

For the same reason, we do not publish ratings, review scores, years of experience, registration numbers or response times that we cannot stand behind. Where we describe the technical side of air conditioning, we use published sources and link to them. If a fact is not confirmed, we leave it out.

How contractors are chosen

We pass enquiries to contractors who cover the suburb concerned and who do the type of work requested.

If we do not have a contractor who covers your suburb or the job you need, we will tell you rather than pass your details on regardless.

Frequently asked questions

Do you install or repair the aircon?

No. We connect you with an independent contractor who covers your area. The contractor does the work.

Can you tell me what is wrong with my unit over the phone?

No. A unit that is not cooling has several possible causes, and a failed fan, a control fault and a refrigerant leak sound the same from a distance. The contractor tests the unit.

Who do I contact if I am unhappy with the work?

The contractor, because the agreement for the work is between you and them. You are welcome to let us know too, so that we can take it into account.
