Aircon installation and gas refill in Midrand
Midrand sits between Johannesburg and Pretoria and has grown fast, so much of its housing is new, double-storey and inside an estate. We connect you with an independent contractor who covers Midrand and quotes you directly.
New estates and double-storey walls
Midrand expanded quickly through the 1990s and 2000s, which is why so much of the housing is recent (source: Wikipedia). Newer homes often mean double-storey face-brick walls, and drilling through face brick for a pipe run takes patience and a planned line.
Many homes here sit in estates or gated complexes, where the position of an outdoor unit and the appearance of trunking are governed by the scheme's rules as much as by the wall.
Planning a Midrand installation
Because the run from an upstairs bedroom to a sensible condenser position can be long, the pipe route is the design decision. A slightly longer route that keeps the unit tucked away and reachable usually beats the shortest line.
Ask the contractor how the wall will be made good after the core holes, and whether the estate needs to approve the position first. Aircon installation covers the rest of the process.
Gas refills in Midrand
A newer home does not make a unit immune to a slow leak; a flare joint or a valve can pass on any installation. If the unit is losing cooling, the leak is the job before the refill is.
Ask for a leak test and for the system to be charged by weight to the maker's figure. Aircon gas refill explains what a proper regas includes.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Midrand and its estates?
Yes. Enquiries are taken from across Midrand and its complexes, and the contractor who knows your estate will contact you.
Can the pipe run go through a face-brick wall?
Yes, with core drilling and a planned route, and the wall made good afterwards. Ask the contractor how they will run it.
Is a gas refill needed on a new unit?
Only if it has lost refrigerant, which means a leak. A sound system does not consume gas as it runs.
